During the crusades, Saint Francis went to Egypt and crossed enemy lines to beg for peace with a Muslim authority. No one can be sure precisely why he focused his efforts there or what was said. It was an astonishing act of bravery, and I know he used that same courage to confront injustice with his own systems.
In my post yesterday I referred to this area he travelled to as modern day Afghanistan. However, he only went as far as Egypt. In a beautiful article about the matter in The Guardian here, the writer seems to imply he went as far as I first said. But on a closer look, that writer appears to be just making a point. Either way, the rugged travels of folks in ages past never ceases to amaze me, and I didn't put it past him, brave and equipped as he was.
Thanks for reading my work and life experiences. It amazes me when others want to ponder the wonderful weirdness of my somewhat ecstatic everyday experiences.
