Hamnet
January 18, 2026
when I saw Hamnet all the threads of my humanity pulled apart gently
and danced like seagrass in the electricity
of love
the verdant slime
of earth met my nostrils
cool and sticky
with each bite of popcorn
I stepped out of the dark wood naked
draped in a white sheet
breathless
were the woods terrifying
or were they my mother? my birth?
my heart reached out through fingertips to clasp the dirty hands of grief
can a screen be a stage, a rose, a rendered heart? a time machine?
yes, YES!
so long lives the human heart through time, and this gives life to me.

This post references the newly released film Hamnet, directed by Chloé Zhao
