When the veil is thin
we are invited to call upon our ancestors all the more readily
with gratitude for who they are and how they are
in the presence of Creator
knowing they see us more completely from where they are
accepting that they may not be exactly where or how we imagine them to be.
And yet, here they are!
Let us call upon the reality of those who love us and remain with us even if they have moved on to other lives.
We name them now …
Walk with us and answer our questions. Lead us and guide us and help us here as we navigate the uncertainties of this world.
Time is no obstacle to them and is a multidimensional mystery to us. We welcome this mystery.
We call upon their goodwill and their wisdom which can see us and love us more completely now, past the layers of illusion into the mystic myriad of spaces. We forgive them of their harm done here and we welcome the invitation to repairing work on their behalf.
We recognize that we are both descendants and ancestors ourselves.
Yes, in this moment, we are already ancestors having lived and died and having been reborn again.
Perhaps we are being called upon as Ancestor in This Very Moment.
Therefore we are not only in need of guides but we are watchers from another world ourselves and grantors of strength.
We call on not only those who have gone before us but those elements that have birthed us. We call upon the dirt that formed our bodies. The dust.
…the lightning from the explosion that made our universe. We call upon the forethought electrical impulses that sparked our heartbeat before we were even cells.
We call upon our elemental ancestors. The rain that watered our grandparents' fields.
Flame that lit the passage of our 7th great grandparents through a hostile night.
Wind that delivered a shift in a raging forest fire and spared a town.
Light our way! Spark our hearts! Water our fields!
The veil is thin.
We are ancestors and descendants today and every day.
